Billboard
Billboard is an American music magazine. The first issue of Billboard was published on November 1st 1894 and is distinguished as being one of the oldest trade magazines in the world. The magazine was originally focused on bill posting and outdoor amusements before specialising in the music industry in the 1950s the magazines contains many different genres but the main genres billboard uses are R&B/Hip-Hop, Adult Pop, Rock and Dance. Billboard always uses the same style in their magazine especially in the front cover they use 2 different styles to make the image stand out. (The image is a constant in every billboard front cover) They either use Black bold writing with some of the lower case letters having a colour fill this text is always at the very top of the cover whereas the alternate cover has the word “Billboard” going down the left side, they use the same font for each style. The magazines are also colourful to attract potential customers to their magazine. The target audience of this magazine is 16-26 year olds this is because the magazine provides its readers with the latest updates from the charts and has a variety of music artists to interest people of different ages. The Billboard website is very clearly structured and makes the stories very easy to differentiate to find different music tastes the colour scheme of the site is black and white this also helps with the very clear structure of the website. Billboard also has its own music app for people to download from the app store/android store and this has the latest music top 10 lists etc. Billboard sponsor a few events such as “Billboard touring conference & awards” “The Billboard power 100” “Billboard Latin music conference and awards” and the last one being “Billboard women in music luncheon”.
