publishes a lot of different magazines such as “Kerrang” being the main music
one but they also publish magazines about vehicles such as “Bike” and “Match”.
In total Bauer publishes 100+ magazines aimed at many different target
audiences, but their main target audience is digitally native 16-34 year olds.
The percentage of the market that Bauer own is unknown but they are the UKs
most influential publisher therefore they are more than likely to have the
best/ most up to date news and that would be why their target audience is 16-34
because there might be some stories that are more serious than others. Bauer
often use eMagazines and ePapers to get there products across the internet this
is another reason why Bauer is so successful is there use of multimedia
platforms to get there products to people who don’t buy magazines this gives
them a chance to get the latest music news.
IPC Media is owned by Time Inc. This organisation publishes a
lot of different magazines such as “NME” being the main music magazine they
also sell other magazine that come under many different genres e.g. Business
and Technology, Entertainment, Fashion & Beauty, Food & Wine, Home
& Design, Luxury, News, Sports & Fitness and travel. IPC Media publish more
than 60 magazines. Their most successful magazine Country
Life is believed to be one of the publisher's biggest cash cows, selling a
healthy average of 38,246 copies a week at £3.20 each IPC media don’t have a
singular audience since the amount of genres they publish and tend to cater to
people of all different ages and different lifestyle choices this is why they
and a lot of other publishers are very popular because they cater do different
people’s needs. It is unknown what percentage of the market they have but they
publish more than 60 magazines.
Condé Nast, a division of Advance Publications
owned by Condé Montrose Nast. This organisation publishes a few magazine the
main music one being “GQ”. They also publish other well-known magazines such as
“Vogue” and “Glamour”. They publish 26magazines aimed at different audiences.
Their main audience would be similar aged to Bauer 16-34 because they are old
enough to want to keep up with certain genres of music whilst keeping to their
older audiences with fashion magazines and some music magazines would also
attract different types of people for example if they had Green day on their it
would attract different people if it had Eminem or a rapper on it. It is
unknown what percentage of the market they own but they publish very
influential magazines therefore they are a creditable company and are quite
influential in the industry.
